MIA
MIA（Marine Insurance Act）とは、英国海上保険法のことをあらわします。
海上保険法を成文法で体系化している国に対して、
慣習法の国である英国（イギリス)は、アメリカの米法とともに判例法をとっており、
海上保険に関しても膨大な判例が集積し、その判例を集大成し成文化しています。
外航貨物海上保険では、保険金支払いが約款解釈の相違等により紛糾した場合、
わが国の法律ではなく準拠される英国の法律および慣習の具体的な根拠となります。
1906年（明治39年）にまとめられ、英国（イギリス）式の海上保険証券を利用している保険市場では、重要な法律です。
